Our Commitment to Privacy

At Lonespot ("we", "us"), we recognize that privacy is important. To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our online information practices. To make this notice easy to locate, we make it available on our homepage. This statement describes our current privacy practices; if we make material changes to these practices, we will post them here..

The Information We Collect

This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the Lonespot web site. You can view some event information without having a Lonespot account. Certain activities—such as viewing some event details, posting an event, requesting a reminder, and more—require you to have a Lonespot account. We ask for some personal information when you create a Lonespot account, such as your name, email address and a password, which is used to protect your account from unauthorized access. On some pages, you can enter personal information such as mobile phone number, in order to request reminders by text message or utilize other features.

When you use Lonespot, you may set up your account, perform searches, post events, send messages, subscribe to calendars, save preferences, and transmit information through a variety of channels. We collect this information so that we can provide you with our service and offer personalized features. We maintain all user submitted account information, and we also collect user submitted content about events.

Additionally, some information collected is not explicitly submitted by the user. Examples of such information include, but are not limited to, browser-type related information, IP address, requested URL, and timestamp.

The Way We Use Information

We use the information you provide about yourself to allow you to access information and utilize the features of the site.

Information such as your full name may be shown to users, primarily in conjunction with event information you have posted on Lonespot. Your name is displayed when you post an event. Your full name and email address may also be used when you send an email notification to another individual through our site. We may also use your email address to send you communications from us. Lonespot may send you service-related announcements from time to time through the general operation of the service. For instance, you may request to receive reminders of specific events by email or text, in which case we will send you the requested email or text message. You may opt out of receiving messages by changing your preferences in your account settings.

If you choose to use our Tell a Friend feature about an event or the web site, we will ask you for your friend's email address. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email inviting him to visit the page with the specified event, or the website. Lonespot stores this information to track the success of our referral program. Your friend may contact us at help@lonespot.org to request that we remove this information from our database.

Most of the information you provide on our site is publicly exposed. You post user content at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the website. You understand and acknowledge that, even after removal, copies of content may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or if other users have copied or stored your user content.

Browser-type related information, IP address, requested URL, and other information help us diagnose problems with our server and administer our site in a way to provide you with the highest possible level of service. Like most websites, Lonespot also uses cookies to function properly. Cookies are small text files on your computer that identify you as a unique user, and therefore allow us to simplify the user experience. For example, the use of cookies allows registered users to enter the site without typing their email address every time. If you do not want information collected through the use of cookies, most browsers have a simple procedure that allows you to choose whether to accept or deny the cookie feature. It should be noted that cookies may be necessary to provide you with certain features of the site.

We do not provide contact or other personal information to third party marketers without your permission. We share your information with third parties only in limited circumstances where we believe such sharing is permitted by you, reasonably necessary to offer the service, or legally required. We never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

If ownership of Lonespot were to change, your user information may be transferred to the new owner so the service can continue operations. In such case, we would notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

Any improper collection or misuse of information provided on Lonespot is a violation of the Lonespot Terms of Use and should be reported to us at help@lonespot.org.

Our Commitment to Data Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard the information we collect online. If you register for an account, it is password protected. Although we take appropriate measures, we cannot assure you that personally identifiable information that we collect will never be disclosed in a manner inconsistent with this Privacy Policy. You hereby acknowledge that we are not responsible for any intercepted information sent via the Internet, and you hereby release us from any and all claims arising out of or related to the use of intercepted information in any unauthorized manner.

You should be aware that when you voluntarily disclose personally identifiable information such as name, email address, via event postings, the information, along with any substantive information disclosed in your communication, can be collected and used by third parties. Such activities are beyond the control of Lonespot. Please do not post any personal information on the Lonespot site that you expect to keep private.

Our Commitment to Children's Privacy

Protecting the privacy of children is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our web site from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our web site is structured to attract anyone under 13. If you are under 13, please do not attempt to use the site or provide any personal information to us.

How You Can Access or Correct Your Information

As a registered user of Lonespot, you can access your personally identifiable information that we collect online and maintain by logging in and viewing My Account. We use this procedure to better safeguard your information. If for some reason you are unable to correct errors in your personally identifiable information, you may send us a request to correct such errors. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.
